About the Professional Development WG

This group is dealing with issues of professionalisation, recognition of the profession, define and address needs in managing international and national research projects, in special management issues in the European Framework Programmes, in simplification, Joint Programming, in exchange programmes, networking and other issues coming up in the European and trans-European Research Area.
The Mission of the group is to act as a source of active engagement for members on matters relating to the Professional Development of the Research Manager and Administrator.

Key Tasks of the WG are:

  • Actively monitor and promote discussion on policy developments with regard to the needs of the professional development and to communicate these to members;
  • Develop the framework for collaboration with professional course providers;
  • Organise activities for members – training and exchange activities workshops and seminars;
  • Monitor and develop the certification scheme;
  • Seek and develop global partnerships in the field.

Expected outcomes in the next two years are:

  • A finalised certified training programme
  • A Mentoring programme
  • Supplementary courses on soft skills not covered by the certification programme
