EARMA was founded in Genova, Italy, in January 1995 to promote the effectiveness of European research.
The founding of EARMA followed the First Conference on the Management of European Collaborative Research Projects (held in Oxford, United Kingdom in 1994), which recognised the need for a network to help increase the level of expertise in research management.
The Association aims to be Europe's leading forum for those engaged in research management and administration and has established links with a number of complementary organisations.
EARMA is currently run on a purely voluntary basis. It is governed by an Executive Committee (ExCom) elected by its Members, for its Members. The ExCom is supported by a number of Standing Committees.
The official registered address of EARMA is:
3, rue du Luxembourg
B-1000 Brussels
BELGIUM
