This year’s Conference Welcome Reception will take place in the Ceremonial Hall in the University of Copenhagen main building.  The University main building is located in the historic centre of Copenhagen next to the Church of Our Lady (Vor Frue Kirke), the cathedral of Copenhagen and the National Cathedral of Denmark. The building itself is surrounded by some of the oldest remaining buildings in Copenhagen dating back to 1420.

The University's main building was built between 1829 and 1836.  Inscribed above the entrance to the building is the University’s motto “COELESTEM ADSPICIT LUCEM”.  In front of the building there are sculptures of prominent professors and other distinguished individuals connected with the university.

The Ceremonial Hall is used for all major University celebrations/occasions including the matriculation ceremony that takes place at the beginning of each academic year during which the Rector of the University welcomes and shakes hands with all new students.
