13th 13th Annual EARMA Conference 2007

The 13th EARMA Annual Conference, took place at Warsaw University, Poland, between 29 June and 1 July 2007.
The main theme of the Conference was “Building the European Research Area: The Responsibilities of Research Managers”. A Pre-Conference Workshop took place on Friday 29th June, explaining details of the NIH grant application submission process.
This Workshop also provided details of funding opportunities, funding mechanisms, and the new electronic proposal application process at NIH. This was a unique opportunity for European Research Managers and Administrators to develop news skills necessary to support researchers in their home institutions who are interested in applying for NIH grants.

A reception event then took place on the Friday evening (29th June), followed by two days of plenary lectures, parallel sessions, and workshops, on Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July. Professor Jerzy Buzek MEP, the European Parliament Rapporteur for the 7th Framework Programme, opened the Conference.

As a key instrument in the realisation of a European Research Area, the European Commission’s 7th Framework Programme and its objectives featured prominently in the Conference programme. In this context, the Conference closely examined the various roles and responsibilities of research managers and administrators, and the skills they need to succeed.

Copies of the presentations are available to Members in the members-only section of the website.
Thanks to everyone who made Warsaw such a success!
