Following our successful Annual Conference in Paris earlier this year, we distributed a questionnaire to all 200 delegates who attended.  We received over 60 replies which provided us with some valuable feedback concerning the venue, presentations, registration, accommodation and social events. We are now issuing a call to members to provide ideas for the leading theme of the 2007 EARMA Conference, and the detailed topics you would like to see addressed within parallel, keynote, or interactive workshop sessions.  Please complete the following form and return it by e-mail to

EC Study - Remuneration of Researchers

The European Commission has launched a study to assess the remunerations of researchers in the public and business enterprise sectors in the European Union and countries Associated to the Community RTD Framework programme. In this context, a researcher is considered as any person who devotes at least 50% of her/his time in order to carry out research activities.  This study aims at obtaining a better understanding of the key elements of a researchers career, with a view of improving the attractiveness of Europe for researchers.

EARMA Conference - Reception Event

To begin our Conference this year, a welcome Reception will be held on the evening of Sunday 18th June 2006.  The Reception will take the form of a wine-tasting and buffet, and will begin at 18:00 (Paris time).  Please note, however, that this event will NOT take place at the Institut Pasteur.

EARMA General Assembly 2006

In accordance with the provisions of the EARMA Constitution, Article 7.1 (Meetings), we hereby give notice that the next EARMA General Assembly will take place on the 20th June 2006 during the EARMA Annual Conference in Paris. The venue for the General Assembly will be the Auditorium at the Institut Pasteur, 28 Rue du Docteur Roux, 75724 Paris Cédex 15.  The General Assembly will commence at 11:15 and finish at 13:00.

European Research Council News

The Scientific Research Council of the European Research Council (ERC) have recently issued two Strategy Notes concerning their Launch Strategy and their proposed Starting Independent Research Grants (you can download both below).  A preliminary EARMA response has also been issued (see below).
