As part of our preparations for next year's Annual Conference I recently visited the proposed venue: Braganca in Portugal. I was going as the Board representative along with Anna Groenix (Chair of the Annual Conference Committee) and Jose Leite.
Yes, that's right, we really are starting to prepare this early!
Our aim is simple: To make this conference the most successful EARMA conference ever.
By starting early we feel that we have a good chance of fulfilling this.
And no stone is being left unturned (or in this case perhaps untrampled) in order to ensure that everything is in place at the venue.
We therefore visited all the facilities along with having a tour of the city. The warm welcome and courteous help we got from the local people was most encouraging. And of course we have the benefit of local knowledge, as Jose himself comes from Braganca. And when you add to this the efforts of Anna, who has been involved in previous conferences, then we have in place already an expert team that will make every effort to bring the 'dream' to reality. We will add to the team with further members of the Conference Committee shortly.
I have to say its a beautiful location, and the city is well used to hosting international conferences.
Please look out for some photos of the venue which I will place on the site shortly.
Of course there is still a lot of work to do before we can finally confirm that everything is in place, but I can tell you we already have a few exciting ideas about how to make this not only a conference that will enhance your professional development but a unique cultural experience that will broaden your mind. I like the philosophy that we should all both develop our know-how and also find ways to enrich and enjoy our work. Having experienced the beautiful castle, well preserved walls and superb climate, it seems also an ideal place for the latter!
Like everything with EARMA we highly encourage your participation and input, so please look out also for the Call for proposals for conference topics. But we welcome early suggestions: please do not hold back!
We are also hoping to launch the outline programme very soon and as our ideas (hopefully) develop into reality we will let you know..
Speak to you again soon!
David
